About Health Services – Kasenengwa District

The Health Services Department in Kasenengwa District operates under Kasenengwa Town Council, in line with the Local Government mandate to support public health service delivery. The department works closely with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to coordinate community health interventions, promote disease prevention, and improve the wellbeing of residents across the district.

The department is located at Chiparamba, where its coordination office supports health facilities and community structures in planning and implementing health programmes.

Mandate

To coordinate and support the delivery of quality primary health care services in Kasenengwa District through public health promotion, disease prevention, environmental health management, and community-based interventions, in order to improve health outcomes and productivity of the population.

A healthy and productive Kasenengwa District with accessible, equitable, and quality health services for all.

Mission Statement

To promote and safeguard the health of communities in Kasenengwa District through effective coordination of primary health care, preventive services, and responsive public health programmes, working in partnership with health facilities, community structures, and development partners.

Clinical Care and Diagnostic Services Unit

  1. Runs OPD and IPD services in council/district health facilities.

  2. Coordinates clinical outreach to hard-to-reach communities.

  3. Ensures diagnosis and treatment follow Ministry of Health guidelines.

  4. Manages referrals between health posts, centres, and hospitals.

Nursing and Midwifery Services Unit

  • Provides general nursing care for patients in facilities.

  • Supports maternal, newborn, and child health, including safe deliveries.

  • Manages wards, triage, infection control, and patient safety.

  • Supervises and mentors nurses/midwives and supports their training

Pharmaceutical (Pharmacy) Services Unit

  • Forecasts, orders, stores, and distributes medicines to facilities.

  • Ensures correct dispensing and rational drug use.

  • Tracks stock levels, expiry dates, and reporting to avoid shortages.


  • Provides medicine information to clinicians and communities.
