About Our Department

The Department of Social Welfare is responsible for the provision and promotion of quality social welfare services aimed at alleviating poverty, reducing destitution, promoting family values and reducing juvenile delinquency.We are located at KALICHERO-FTC in KASENENGWA DISTRICT

Governing Statutes

Juveniles Act Cap 53

Governs matters relating to the care, protection and rehabilitation of juveniles in Zambia. Provides legal framework for juvenile justice and child welfare services.

Adoption Act Cap 54

Regulates the adoption of children in Zambia, ensuring their welfare and best interests are protected throughout the adoption process.

Probation of Offenders Act Cap 93

Provides for probation of offenders and matters connected therewith, offering rehabilitation alternatives to imprisonment.

Affiliation and Maintenance Orders Act Cap 64

Provides for the affiliation of children and maintenance orders, ensuring financial support for children born out of wedlock.

Anti-Human Trafficking Act 11 of 2008

Provides for the prohibition, prevention and prosecution of human trafficking and the protection of victims of trafficking.

Anti-Gender Based Violence Act 1 of 2011

Provides for the protection of victims of gender-based violence and prescribes penalties for perpetrators of gender-based violence.
